THE DIVINE SOUND OF THE DHAMA
ABOUT THIS SITE
Kirtan — the congregational chanting of the holy names of God — is the central spiritual practice of the Vaishnava tradition and the living heart of life in Mayapur. Every morning and evening, the sounds of mridanga drums, karatalas, and thousands of voices fill the dhama with transcendental vibration.
Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu declared kirtan to be the most powerful method of spiritual realization in the current age. In Mayapur, one can experience this practice at its most authentic and potent — in the very place where it was born, performed by devotees who have dedicated their entire lives to it.
Guided kirtan experiences are available for visitors who wish to learn the traditional melodies, instruments, and philosophical context of this ancient practice.
