SACRED GANGES BATHING GHAT

Mayapur Ghat

ABOUT THIS SITE

The Ganges Ghat at Mayapur sits at the confluence of the holy Ganga and Jalangi rivers — one of the most sacred bathing spots in all of the Vaishnava world. Here, the river touches the most spiritually potent piece of land on earth.

Pilgrims have bathed at this ghat for centuries, seeking purification of past sins and liberation from the cycle of birth and death. The Vedic scriptures declare that bathing in the Ganges at Mayapur during auspicious occasions delivers a benefit impossible to calculate.

At dawn, the ghat comes alive with the chanting of holy names as pilgrims descend the steps into the sacred river while the first light of morning touches the water. It is one of the most spiritually charged moments one can experience in the dhama.
